Lost Busts


Dante, 1872 Montgomery Gibbs commissioned a marble copy of a bust of Dante, which was executed in Rome.

Apollo Belvedere, 1873-74 From correspondence and Saint-Gaudens' account books, two marble copies after this Apollo are know to have been commissioned, and probably executed, for Misses Merrick and Tolman. Miss Laura Merrick commissioned, additionally, a marble bust of Antinous in 1874.  Miss A.C. Tolman also commissioned Venus de Medici and Moses in marble, both in 1873-74, and both known only through their account book entries.
